FACADE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM

Does the exterior of your building need a facelift? If so, the Downtown District may be able to help through the Facade Improvement Program. This program encourages our Downtown property and business owners to renovate their building fronts and other exteriors visible to the public. Restoration of a historic painting or design, as well as installation of lights are just a couple eligible improvements. Reach out to Jennifar Bassett at jbassett@cedarrapids.org for additional information on how your business may be eligible for a grant.

The Downtown District has partnered with Blue Sky on the Projector Project. Let’s show the City what you are made of! Videos, a photo montage, or events you would like to highlight, can be posted on our projector located at 3rd & 3rd. PURCHASE OF DOWNTOWN BUILDING
600 3RD AVE SE
On January 12, 2024, 600 3rd Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52401 was acquired by THE LUXE ON 3RD, LLC. Co-Managers of the LUXE ON 3RD, LLC are physician and entrepreneur Stanley Mathew, MD., and Rhonda Andrews.
Dr. Mathew is a board-certified physical medicine rehabilitation physician and pain medicine specialist. He serves as medical director for multiple hospitals and rehab facilities throughout the Midwest.
Dr. Mathew and his team’s other passions include community development, real estate, and most importantly people. He has been a member of the community for over 15 years and believes moving to Iowa from New York was one of the best decisions of his life.
Rhonda Andrews is the CFO and visionary of Mathew Enterprises, LLC and has over 28 years of experience in accounting and taxes. She’s also experienced in real estate tax credit structures, financial analysis, and business development.
The 600 3rd Ave building has been through its pandemic struggles like all of us.
The vison for the LUXE ON 3RD is bring refreshing energy and resilience to downtown Cedar Rapids in the post pandemic era.
Their vison is to create jobs, bring business and people into the downtown community, making a Cedar Rapids a Midwest city that becomes a destination and business hub. They’re actively recruiting companies to join the downtown development movement.

Gentle Reminders
Please Keep Your Doorstep Clear of Snow & Ice!
We want to keep our sidewalks safe for our community and patrons. Downtown businesses are responsible for snow and ice removal of their sidewalks, stairs, and front doors of the property.
Keeping Our Alleyways Clean!
Trash and debris can build up quickly and before you know it, trash bins are overflowing. We want to keep our alleyways clean and free of garbage. Our Downtown Maintenance Crew is happy to help our community where we can however, the responsibility lies with the business and/or property owner(s) to make sure the trash bin designated to you is emptied and there is no excess garbage in the alleyways.
